Is switching out my old light bulbs to LED’s the right choice?
When that light bulb goes bad, is the cost of switching to LED Bulbs the best thing to do? There are for sure numerous good reason to switch to LED Bulbs even though they have a higher cost than conventional incandescent bulbs, one of the big reasons is energy savings. LED Bulbs in most cases operate at 10-20% the energy cost of what an incandescent bulb of the same brightness operates at. One of the reasons for this is up to 80% of incandescent bulbs energy is lost to heat, where LED Bulbs only lose 15-20% of their energy to heat.
Another great reason to switch to LED Bulbs is that they last much longer. In some cases LED Bulbs can last up to 20 times as long as a standard incandescent bulb. This is especially nice when you have to replace bulbs in hard to get to areas.
Also LED Bulbs are safer than incandescent bulbs. Since they do not produce very much heat they tend to run cool which reduces the chance of fire or burnt fingers when you taking out a bulb. They tend to also be more durable and you are less apt to deal with broken glass if one is dropped.
